Early Season Thoughts

We are now a week into the new NBA season and I just wanted to share some thoughts.

First off the Houston Rockets. The combination of Yao and TMac is always deadly when both are healthy. That has been their problem the past few years, but they are off to a hot start and I kind of wanted to make a courageous pick of choosing the Rockets to come out of the West. TMac is off to a great start and definitely has MVP opportunities if he remains healthy the whole season. I have always been a McGrady fan, he can just pour in the points when he needs to.

As for the Washington "Gizards" (Wizards), they are pretty much worthless without a healthy Arenas. I had the pleasure of attending their home opener on Saturday night, and it was obvious Arenas is not healthy from his knee injury. He is off to a sluggish start shooting the ball and has said his knee is causing him problems. Butler and Jamison are good players, but the Wizards just don't play well enough defense when they are struggling offensively. Arenas take a few games off and get that knee healthy so you can actually back up your mouth that has got you in trouble so far this season after getting waxed by the Celtics by 20 points.

My Cavaliers will be okay. James has settled down after a rough preseason and I'm telling you he will have his best year of his career and have a good chance at winning his first MVP award at the end of the season.

As many people know the Patriots prevailed over the Colts 24-20 this past weekend in a very well fought game. It was obvious that these two teams are the best in the league on both sides of the ball.

As for Tom Brady and Randy Moss, I never doubted Moss when he came to New England. Many critics thought Moss would have an average season, but that this point of the season he is the best receiver in the league, looking like his form back in the Minnesota days minus the mouth. Moss has nearly a thousand yards receiving through nine games along with 12 touchdown catches. I knew Moss would have an excellent season just because of how the Patriots run their offense. Both Moss and Brady are in the mid-season discussion to be MVP, both would be a very good choice.

And I am excited because I have Moss on my Fantasy team and the guy is helping me win big time so far.

I think that is all I got for now, thanks for all the support out there, just trying to grow and improve for the future.

P.S. Greg Maddox won his 17th Gold Glove award this season. The guy is 40 some and still the best fielding pitcher in the league and will be back next season to win his 18th!

Great post, Mj. Gotta say I agree with just about everything you said. Houston looks great. But so do them Nuggets. Who would have thought. Of course I think YOU said that with a healthy Martin...

And yes, Agent Zero needs to stop trying to prove he is superman and stick with the Hibachi. He just needs to rest and get back to 100%...then he will light it up...for MY fantasy team.

Never really a question about LeBron having a great season...he has no choice. But he seriously needs to be thinking about whether he will stay with the Cavs long term. Because they simply are NOT helping him.

I was disappointed to see the Colts lose, but they did. And not the Patriots are the team. I just hope someone stops them from the perfect season. Dolphins can't take setting the perfect losing season AND lose their hold on the only perfect season all in one year!

BTW heard some sports announcer talk about how the Pats cheated only one game. How the heck does anyone know that? I mean does anyone really think that was the first time they ever video taped a team? Please. And they just happened to get caught that first time? You can say innocent until proven guilty, but fool us once, shame on you, fool us twice, shame on all of us. I am with Shula...if they have a perfect season, they get an asterick. What you think MJ?!

Ok...so the Nuggets got flat out smacked DOWN last night by Boston's Snap, Crackle, and Pop. Damn that was brutal. Once again, reality wins. [When you gonna finally give the Celtics some props, MJ?!)

LeBron had an awesome game....but down they go...again. Time to rebuild!

And in the battle of two undefeated teams...the Pacers come away...beaten. But it is STILL a great start to the season. But wow...look at them Clippers.

Ok...back to you Mr. Smak...lay it down.
