It all came down to their kicker, Mike Vanderjact right? No, it's the great "Mr. Clutch" Adam Vinatieri. Oh man they got this game in the bag. Nothing more than a 30 yard field goal, piece of cake right.
Wrong. Adam just misses it on the outside edge. Heck he even missed a 40 yarder at the end of the first half too. What happened to those Patriot days where he couldn't miss anything to save his life. He could try to miss back then and would still make it. There could be six inches of snow on the ground, from 50 yards, it would be right down the middle.
He even missed a field goal last weekend against his former team the Patriots. Boy was I disappointed. To even think the Colts had a shot at winning the game after Peyton throws 5 INTS is unheard of. Vinatieri better put his armor back on because someone or something has messed his invisibility up.
Oh technically Manning finished the game with six INTS, but he threw number six after Vinatieri missed the field goal, but that's besides the point.
And for my man John, what a heart breaker for the Dolphins. Had a chance to win their first game of the season against the Bills, but couldn't pull it off. I mean at this point in the season and being win less teams usually might tank the rest of the season to earn the number one draft pick, but I don't know any super college players that could make an immediate impact for them next season. (I still think they should have drafted Brady Quinn, but oh well a kick returner is what they needed, not). They obviously need a quarterback, probably should have kept Culpepper in my opinion, but the loss of Trent Green hurt them too. And Ronnie Brown, he's been a bust too. Might as well start working with Ricky to get him to stop doing drugs so he can make it back into the league.
I mean I can't talk to much on my end either. My niners have lost six straight games and have their first Monday night game in I can't even remember against the Seahawks. But we are starting to get healthy again and if we can get this new offense down, I'm looking forward to a good ending to the season. And heck if we win tonight we will only we a game behind Seattle and Arizona for first in the division. So I'm staying positive.
My Tar Heels get their season underway this week against the seasons early dark horse in Davidson having already upset the Kentucky Wildcats in Rupp Arena. UNC has a pretty good non conference schedule too. Good meaning, challenging unlike a lot of teams, cough cough Duke, which gives UNC an advantage to play in those tough games to help prepare for the NCAA tournament.
GO NINERS!
EDIT
I made an mistake in my post the other day. When I said Davidson beat Kentucky, I was wrong. It wasn't Davidson, it was Gardner-Webb. My bad. Just wanted to show that I noticed it and knew the correct information for that.
Anyways, UNC held on to beat Davidson tonight. So it's all good.
