WOW!
Boy am I one happy camper. The Yankees lose and I saw one of the best endings to a football game I have ever seen.
WOW!
First off, the Cleveland Indians ended the Yankees season after winning 6-4 last night at Yankee Stadium. It has now been seven seasons since the Yankees have won a Championship, and I couldn't be happier. I think it's time for the Yankees to get a whole new look because their bring in every veteran player and pay them as much as we can philosophy doesn't seem to be working. To be honest, I think Joe Torre should take George Steinbrenners position, because The Boss seems to be loosing his touch as a Owner.
They should have brought in Lou Pinella this past off season, I'm sure he could made it to the postseason and lost in the first round (just like he did with Chicago). I don't know if its just me, but it seems like older veteran teams don't seem to be getting it done. Example: Both New York teams and a few others. The trick to winning these days is having a few stud youngsters that bring that high energy.
Anyways, Yankees are done and I am excited.
Now for the Buffalo Bills. That lose last night shows how bad they really are. Or is it the Cowboys are just that good? Well 21 of the Bills 24 points, were scored off of defense or special teams. The field goal they got on offense wasn't off a nice long drive down the field. They got the ball near mid field off a turnover and only got a field goal.
I mean their defense did pretty much all they could do to try to win that game. Six total turnovers, 5 INTS and 1 fumble recovery. As for the Cowboys, they just couldn't buy a break on offense in the first half. QB Tony Romo threw 4 INTS in the first half and just didn't look like his normal self. Still they just trailed by a touchdown at halftime.
But the end of the game was one of the most exciting I have ever experienced. Down 24-16, Romo stay poised and led his team down the field and scored a touchdown with just 20 seconds remaining on the clock. So they go for a two point conversion trying to tie the game. Buffalo brings an all out blitz and of course Romo throws a jump ball up to Owens and it appeared Owens brought it in, but the Bills CB kept his eye on the ball and knocked it out of Owens grabs.
So the game is over right? Bills leading 24-22, the Cowboys go with the onside kick and what do you know, it was set up perfectly and the Cowboys recover the ball on the 47 yard line.
Once again, WOW!
Can you guess what happens next? Well, Romo throws about a 20 yard pass to Owens and it appeared to be caught, so the Cowboys rush to the line to spike the ball and stop the clock and they did so with just 1 second remaining on the clock. But no, the referee blows the whistle and goes to review the catch. And of course it hits the ground and its now second down with 13 seconds remaining. Well two quick passes are completed and they get out of bounced to stop the clock and with two seconds remaining, rookie kicker Nick Folk lines up a 53 yard field goal to win this amazing game.
The kick is up... It's good! Wait a second, the Bills call a last second timeout before the kick.
No problem, Folk lines it up and nails the kick again and it is over. Cowboys 25-24!
WOW! What a game.
For those of you who watched this game that ended just before midnight, I'm sure you would agree that this is one of the best endings to a game I have ever seen.
And what's even better, the Cowboys are now set to face the undefeated Patriots at home in a battle of two of the three remaining unbeaten teams in the league.
Got to love Monday Night Football!
