October is in the air

So I read this comment from my most loyal reader John and I just can't get over his sense from time to time. I think he does it on purpose to spark me. So I'm going to start off with what I think of this comment.

In the last post as some of you might know, I picked two teams from each NBA conference that I think could be in the Conference championships. I chose Chicago and Miami.

Now ever since Kevin Garnett got traded to the Boston Celtics, John jumped on the bandwagon. That is understandable, but where in the world did you get the Nets? First off they lost their only inside presence in Mikki Moore, who wasn't a true big man. Secondly, I would choose the Wizards before I even thought of the Nets. Heck I would even choose the Raptors. Yeah the Nets beat them in last years playoffs, but that was because the Raptors are a young team and were inexperienced. I am a Vince Carter and J Kidd Fan, but there is no way they are a better choice over, Detroit, Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, Washington or even the Celtics.

Here let's do this. Mark it down, I will give you 5o dollars if the New Jersey Nets and Boston Celtics are in the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2008 NBA playoffs. Write it down John, that is a promise to you.

If those two teams are the remaining teams in the East, then something catastrophic must have happened and I probably will not be an NBA fan anymore, because that just wouldn't make any sense at all. If you are going to pick the Nets, you might as well change that choice to the Pacers. I mean how is it that you think the Nets are a top team in the East? I know the East isn't as stacked as the West, but there are certainly a few more teams better than the Nets.

The Nets will finish third in the East division this season behind Toronto and Boston. So I am just confused at that logic.

And you can't tell me that you don't think the Bulls are back in consideration for a top team in the East. I mean they drafted one of your Florida boys in Jokehim Noah, I know even your wife would agree with me. But I'm not trying to bash you, I just don't see your logic in choosing the Nets. I'm still 50-50 on choosing Boston too, but if they play together, then they have a better shot than the Nets.

What's it going to be? I thought you were a Pacers fan, then you turned into a Agent Zero Washington fan, now the Boston bandwagon. I don't know...

Anyways, that kind of got extensive but we are officially through the first month of the NFL season and only four undefeated teams remain, two from each conference. New England, Indianapolis, Dallas and Green Bay. The AFC looks normal, while the NFC looks like the dominate days of the 90s with Dallas and Green Bay.

Brett the hitman Favre is now all by himself at the top of the All-time touchdown passes leader list. Better extend that number as much as you can, because Mr. Peyton Manning will be soon to follow, most likely setting a new standard mark that will last for quiet awhile.

Coming next, its the Postseason and also the New York Mets historic collapse.

Mr. MJ, I think you confuse recognizing reality with a loyalty to my team. My heart wants to see the Pacers emerge as a sleeper team to shock the East, but realistically I can't expect that to happen. As for Mr. Arenas, I definitely like him as a player, but that doesn't mean I am a die-hard Wizards fan. And I still don't see how you can deny the glaring reality that any team in the East vs. KG, Ray, and Pierce don't have a chance. It's like any East team playing an All-Star team. You are just living in denial.

Oh, and I am NOT a Nets fan, just recognize they have a good coach and consistently seem to find a way to stay in the mix. You can't ever cont them out. Despite the nights where Kidd is hoisting 1-18 from the 3.

Peace. Out. MJ!

P.S. Please tell me baseball is over soon!
